Do Virginia Beach Home Owners Hate Military Jet Noise

Does jet noise over your Hampton Roads-Virginia Beach home just bug the heck out of you? NOT ME! As a Virginia Beach home owner I love jet noise. I do not worry about not being able to hear a conversation on my phone for a couple of minutes. I do not worry about holding a conversation outside my home - I just keep my mouth shut for a few moments. What matters about jet noise is the big picture.
Jet noise represents many wonderful things. To me, it represents young men and women sacrificing a portion of their life to serve our (yes our) country. Whether it be a Seaman or Admiral, our Navy personnel believe in their mission and country, they are proud. Believing in your country is sometimes difficult for many people, but, believing in our military personnel is a no-brainer. They continually sacrifice for average wages with often several months of family separation. Freedom is an often overused word, but the people defending it are patriots as were your parents and their parents. Jet noise means more than planes in the sky. Oceana Naval Air Station brings much needed revenue to the City of Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads (just look at Virginia Beach's projected financial deficit). Jet noise brings good jobs to the area for both military and civilian alike. Good jobs mean stability for families, communities, and much more. We continue to read stories about big corporations laying off people, Ford, Lillian Vernon, and probably more to come. Not keeping Oceana NAS on our frontburner would be a big mistake. Virginia Beach City Council needs to recognize such and cease any development near Oceana. We do not need BRAC in the radar anymore. Oceana represents stability in our City and Hampton Roads. Jet noise in Hampton Roads exists for one reason - training. We have the best pilots and support staff in the world. Jets need to fly and train to keep that edge. Localities in North Carolina who do not support a much needed training/landing field need to get a clue. This is about much more than jet noise - just look at the world today. So stop the whining and help our country. Jet noise means good jobs, great families, communities, high standards, real estate ownership, and much more. Our Hampton Roads community is populated by both active duty and veterans after leaving the military. They buy homes, pay taxes, spend money, and make this a good place to live for everyone. When you get an opportunity, thank a Veteran and their family.
